India Sizzles: Heatwave Grips Delhi, Gujarat & Rajasthan — IMD Issues Alerts!

Heatwave Alert in India

The summer heat has arrived early and with full force! A fierce heatwave alert is sweeping across many parts of India, breaking temperature records and putting millions at risk of heat-related health issues. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded alerts for several states, urging citizens to stay cautious and prepared.

Delhi, Gujarat & Rajasthan Among Worst Hit by Heatwave Alert

The national capital, Delhi, is under a Yellow Alert as temperatures are expected to cross 41°C in the coming days. Meanwhile, Gujarat is facing a more severe threat with a Red Alert, and Rajasthan is under an Orange Alert after Barmer recorded a scorching 45.6°C — the highest April temperature in its history!

Rajasthan’s Barmer Breaks All-Time April Record Amid Heatwave Alert

Barmer wasn’t the only city feeling the heat. Other parts of Rajasthan, like Jaisalmer, Kota, and Jodhpur, also crossed the 42°C mark as the mercury continued to climb. The IMD has warned that temperatures could rise by another 3-4 degrees in the coming days.

Gujarat on Red Alert: Take Immediate Precautions

Gujarat’s heatwave is showing no signs of slowing down. Cities across the state are baking under intense heat, with temperatures expected to stay above 44°C for the next few days. The state government has urged people to avoid outdoor activities during peak sun hours.

Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & Maharashtra Feeling the Burn

In Uttar Pradesh, areas like Bundelkhand are witnessing day temperatures above 40°C, and the heat is expected to persist through June. Madhya Pradesh‘s Ratlam sizzled at 42.6°C, while Maharashtra, including Mumbai, is battling hot and humid conditions with no relief in sight for at least four days.

A Small Respite Ahead?

The IMD predicts a Western Disturbance could bring some temporary relief later this week, with chances of scattered rain and dust storms. However, the heatwave alert remains in effect, and the intense heat is expected to persist until then, with no immediate relief in sight. Stay prepared as the heat continues to affect many regions.
